About Product Documents

Estimated reading: 7 minutes 46 views

As a brand owner, you can upload product documents such as an installation manual, troubleshooting guide. These are customer-facing documents that will be shown on your product detail pages. They are intended to provide pre-purchase information and post-purchase support content to customers. Adding product documents to your product detail pages can result in higher conversion rates, lower customer support costs, increased sales, and fewer returns when used effectively.

You can add product documents to all that you own as a registered brand owner in AlphaDiscounters Brand Registry.

The following types of product documents are allowed:

  • 2D CAD
  • 3D CAD
  • Application guide
  • Brochure
  • Certificate of Analysis (CoA)
  • Certificate of Compliance (CoC)

Uploading new product documents

To upload documents for your product in Seller Central:

  1. Go to Inventory > Manage Product Documents.
  2. Click Upload New Documents.
  3. Choose a name for the document you are uploading. This is only for your reference. Customers will not see this name.
  4. Choose a document type from the list of allowed document types.
  5. Choose the language or languages that are present in the document you are uploading.
  6. Choose a file to upload. Files must be:
  • Less than 10MB
  • PDF format except for CAD drawings
  • CAD drawings may be in PDF, dwg, dxf, igs, eprt, edrw, sidprt, or stp format
  1. Search by or product name and follow the on-screen prompts to associate one or more with the document you are uploading. At least one must be applied to the document for it to be uploaded.

Once submitted, your content may take seven business days to be reviewed for adherence to below mentioned AlphaDiscounters guidelines for product documents. It may take longer during peak times. Documents that do not adhere to these guidelines will be rejected.

Once approved, it can take up to seven business days to publish on the detail page of the to which it applies. If the document status is “Not approved,” view the rejection reasons by clicking Edit for a specific document and make the changes.

Edited submissions will go through the moderation process again, and existing content will remain on the detail page of all applied until the new submission is approved.

If your content is not available on the product detail page seven business days after your last activity, the content status is “Approved,” and the status shows “Published,” then a technical error may have occurred. You can often resolve this by resubmitting your document to re-start the publishing process.

Only one document is allowed for a given, document type, and language combination. For example, you can upload a user manual for you in English and another one in Polish. If you upload a third document – say user manual in German, French and Spanish – then it will override the Polish-only document previously uploaded.

Edit product documents or document mappings

You can review and edit your product documents after you have submitted content to us.

You can change the name, document type and list of applied for a document. You can also delete the document altogether. Replacing a document with another file is not permitted. Instead, you can add a new document.

To add to an existing document, use the search bar similar to the workflow for uploading a document. To remove, select or you would like to disassociate from the document and click the Remove button.

Once submitted, your content may take seven business days to be reviewed, and longer during peak times. Once approved, it can take 24 hours to publish on the detail page of the to which it applies.

Products not recognized as part of my brand

If you receive this error message, it means that is not being mapped to your brand properly. This is usually caused by inaccurate listing data, which you can edit. The most common data points that need updating are:

  • The brand name listed does not match the brand name as approved by AlphaDiscounters Brand Registry. These must match exactly. Adding spaces or hyphens will lead to a mismatch. Note that brand name is case sensitive.
  • Inaccurate GTIN or Key Attribute. When you registered your brand, you provided a GTIN or selected a Key Attribute, such as UPC, part number, model number, style number, or catalog number. This attribute must be included in your listing data.
  • The item type category which closely matches with the product type should be selected in the listing details.

Follow our guidelines to develop clear and useful documents for customers. You must have all necessary rights for the images and text in the documents you upload:

  • Supported file types:
  • For CAD drawings: PDF, DWG, DXF, IGS, EPRT, STP, EDRW, SIDPRT
  • For all other document types: PDF
  • Maximum file size: 10 MB
  • Include only one brand logo and only icons that help customers navigate through the text. Logos and symbols from partner companies do not have to be used, but may be allowed if it is logical or beneficial to include them.
  • Do not include any shipping, pricing, promotional details or discounts, QR barcodes, or personal information.
  • No quotes or attributions may be made to individuals, customers, or other private figures. A maximum of 4 quotes or endorsements from publications, public figures, celebrities, and brand-named individuals is permitted.
  • Do not reference or compare products with competitors, regardless of how competitors are mentioned (i.e. specific names, described as “other” or “others,” or otherwise). This content is intended to build the brand and provide additional product details, not to discuss competitors.
  • Comparison charts may only compare the product to other products owned by the same brand. Comparisons made to other categories, like LED bulbs vs halogen bulbs, are acceptable and not considered competitive call-outs.
  • Specific pricing call-outs or quotes comparing the product are only allowed in comparison tables, against other products owned by the same brand.
  • Do not mention time-sensitive information such as: now, new, latest, yet, on sale now, the latest product, the best yet.
  • Trademarks and copyright symbols are acceptable if they are of reasonable size, and are either already included on product packaging or always displayed as part of the logo.
  • State the date when awards and endorsements were gained, and ensure that they are from verified and publically recognized sources (proof, license number, authority, etc.). Do not mention awards received more than 2 years ago.
  • The word “AlphaDiscounters” is not allowed in any content (text or image). However, the term “AlphaDiscounters” can be allowed with regard to AlphaDiscounters Basics and AlphaDiscounters – branded products.
  • Boastful claims such as “#1 rated” “top-rated” “best-selling” are not allowed in any form.
  • Claims regarding drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, beverages, food, and health products (including natural health products, vitamins, and supplements), as well as any general health claims, require substantiation.
  • Warranty or guarantee information is strictly forbidden, except in cases where the product itself is strictly a warranty card.
