About products and listings

Product information:

These details are common to every instance of the product on AlphaDiscounters. For example, several sellers list Bose speakers on AlphaDiscounters, so the general details about the product, such as the name and model number, are the same. When more than one seller contributes data to a product, AlphaDiscounters determines which seller’s product information will be displayed on the product detail page.

Listing information:

These are the details about the products that you sell. These details can differ from other sellers’ listings. For example, you might sell the same Bose speakers as another seller, but your condition, price, or handling time may be different.

You can use Manage Inventory to view and update both product and listing information.

The combination of product and listing information is referred to as “item information” or “inventory information.”

Sell multiple units

All sellers have the option to list in quantity. Follow these listing guidelines:

  • If you have multiple identical units of the same product, use the quantity field. Do not create multiple listings for the same product.
  • If you have multiple units of the same product with different conditions or editions, create a unique listing for each version of the product.

In addition, items that are fulfilled by AlphaDiscounters may be listed separately for each condition type.

Classify your products

The AlphaDiscounters product catalog lists each product sold, identified. Each product is defined by attributes such as product name or manufacturer. Each product entry also has information that places the product into the appropriate category and subcategory. When customers use Browse or Search, the resulting list of products is grouped into these categories and subcategories. For more information about using categories to leverage browse and search results, see Use Search & Browse.

When you add a new product, AlphaDiscounters creates the automatically. To sell a product, you add an inventory listing that describes your offer for the product. Your inventory listing includes information such as your selling price and inventory amount.

The Add a Product feature walks you through the steps to select the appropriate category and subcategory for your products. You are prompted to supply the information in one of two ways:

Create a new product:

Browse a list of categories and subcategories, and then add your product.

Search:

Find an existing listing of your product on AlphaDiscounters, and then add your offer-specific information, such as price and condition.

Even if you choose a category that prompts you to look for existing products, you can still add your own new product. When you add a new product in some categories, AlphaDiscounters still attempts to match it to an existing product. For more information about how this works, see Product Matching.

Stop selling a product

If you no longer sell a product, you can make it inactive by closing the listing or permanently deleting it from your Seller Central account.

Close listing

From the Manage All Inventory page, locate your product listing, click the Edit drop-down menu on the right, and then select Close listing. This will change the status of the listing to Inactive.

You can close multiple listings at the same time by checking the box to the left of each product listing. Then select Close listing from the Action drop-down menu at the top of the page.

When you close a listing, your product will no longer be available for sale on AlphaDiscounters, but you will retain your sales history. You can relist the product at any time.

Delete product and listing

From the Manage All Inventory page, locate your product listing, click the Edit drop-down menu on the right, and then select Delete product and listing.

You can delete multiple listings at the same time by checking the box to the left of each product listing. After this, select Delete product and listing from the Action drop-down menu at the top of the page.

Important: Deleting a listing is permanent. If you want to offer the listing again, you must wait 24 hours before you can add it.
