Examples of Prohibited Listings
Important: If you supply products for sale on AlphaDiscounters, you must comply with all European Union, and local laws and AlphaDiscounters policies applicable to those products and product listings.
Without limiting the foregoing, if you qualify as a dealer of precious metals, precious stones or jewels, you must comply with laws European Union and regulations applicable to you and will, upon AlphaDiscounters request, provide copies of your anti-money laundering program to AlphaDiscounters.
Items considered exonumia, including but not limited to medals, medallions, challenge coins, and commemorative coins not primarily made of a precious metal are exempt from this policy.
You are required to obtain approval from AlphaDiscounters before listing in the Collectible Coins category.
Examples of Permitted Listings
- Collectible Coins
- Prop or imitation currency as long as it is prominently and permanently marked “COPY” in the English language and adheres to the below requirements:
- If prop or imitation money is printed in color, it must be one-sided and less than three-fourths or more than one and one-half the size of EU currency
- If prop or imitation money is printed in black and white, it must be less than three-fourths or more than one and one-half the size of EU currency
- Monetized Bullion: Coins or other forms of money manufactured of gold, silver, or other precious metal and used now or hereafter used as a medium of exchange under the laws of a European Union, or any foreign nation. The medium of exchange must have had a legal status equivalent to legal tender that include relevant information known about the items:
- Numismatic preservation
- Country of circulation of a coin
- Clear image of the item
- Condition
- Grader and Grade
- Date of issue
- Metal composition
- Purity of the metal if the item is monetized bullion
- Restrikes produced or authorized by the issuing government
- Collectible coins or monetized bullion that are reproductions, replicas, or copies and satisfy the following conditions as well as comply with the Counterfeit Deterrence Act of 1992:
- Marked as such on the item
- Contain a clear image of the mark
- State that the item is a reproduction, replica, or copy in the title and the description
Examples of Prohibited Listings
The following are never permitted for sale on AlphaDiscounters:
- Items considered legal tender that have been altered outside of numismatic preservation. This includes holograms, overlays, cladding, plating, or colorizing
- Paper money, including uncut sheets, bank notes, money orders, bricks, and certificates
- Imitation currency including:
- Coins
- Token
- Paper money
- Commemorative medals
- Rounds made primarily of precious metal
- “Unsearched” bags, rolls, tubes, jars, or hoards where the buyers cannot identify clearly the items they will receive
- Counterfeit coins and paper money such as bank notes, bonds, money orders, silver certificates, and gold certificates
- Stocks and securities
- Equipment designed to create counterfeit items
- Cash or cash equivalent instruments, including money orders, checks that can be customized (including blank checks), traveler’s checks, stored value products like retail or open loop gift cards or electronic stored-value redemption codes (except for retail gift cards listed by pre-approved sellers)
- Gift cards, including:
- Gift cards, except retail gift cards listed by pre-approved sellers
- Retail gift cards that exceed 2,000 euro in value
- Non-monetized bullion (precious metal which has been smelted or refined and has a value dependent primarily upon its precious metal content and not upon its form)
